A fire of determination was visible in the eyes of Virat Kohli when he rushed down to the middle after the early dismissal of Rohit Sharma in the second innings. When Kohli played that elegant cover drive off the bowling of Haris Rauf in the 13th over to breach the 14,000 ODI run mark, the crowd and the fans were shown a teaser of what they were going to witness through the innings.

Kohli, slowly and steadily started to fetch runs in the middle and kept the scoreboard ticking with a very composed display of shot making. His ability to rotate strike and be cautious against his nemesis, leg-spin, showed his hunger to cook something special in the Indian chase. The batter with his elegance and controlled shot making soon reached his fifty, and with Shreyas Iyer by his side, took the team to a touching distance away from victory.

Virat Kohli didn’t leave the business unfinished and stayed till the end after the dismissals of Iyer and Pandya and smashed a ferocious four through the cover region to bring up his 51st ODI Century, which was also his 82nd International Century for team India.
