Unpopular Opinion: If MS Dhoni is Batting at No. 9, It's Time to Step Aside

If a batter can't step up when the team is struggling and in need of runs, then what's the point of holding onto that spot?

Yes, CSK is undoubtedly keeping Dhoni for monetary and commercial reasons 💰 but at what cost?

Shouldn't Dhoni himself draw the line? 🤔

Right now, he's occupying a crucial middle/lower-order slot that could go to a deserving batter-keeper. If he's primarily playing as a wicketkeeper, is that really adding value to the team's balance?

At what point do both CSK and MSD prioritize cricket over nostalgia? After all, this is a TEAM GAME, not an emotional tribute to past glories.

This situation reflects the worst of the “Indian Superstar Culture”— where legendary names are valued above the team's needs. 🫠

Honestly, Dhoni's fairytale ending was in 2023 when CSK lifted the trophy. That was the perfect moment to walk away on a high.

Now? It just feels like a drag— contributing little while blocking opportunities for fresh talent.

P.S. – I don't hate MSD. I'm a fan. But when you don't come to bat even after six wickets are down, what's the point of playing as a batter?

CSK management refused to bid for Suresh Raina, despite having the purse. A player who was equally vital to CSK's success ended up being discarded like nothing.

Why? Because he was just a cricketer and not a superstar. 🫤
